“Great teachers change lives. They unlock their students’ potential and put them on paths to success. The New York City Department of Education is launching our second annual Big Apple Awards: Recognizing Teacher Excellence in New York City to celebrate excellent teaching by recognizing the great work of some of our best and brightest teachers. Teachers who inspire students, model great teaching, and enrich their school community.
Over 75,000 teachers are making a difference in the lives of New York City’s 1.1 million students. Here’s your chance to help the teacher who made a difference for you get recognized. Based on your nominations, up to 10 outstanding NYC teachers will be named 2014 Big Apple Awards recipients this June. Recipients will receive a classroom grant for their students and schools and they will continue to stay in the classroom, while serving as citywide ambassadors for the 2014-15 school year.”
